Hi, I'm Emily, a CBT therapist and coach for women with OCD

My Journey

I used to think I was just an overthinker. A “worrier”. The kind of person who triple-checks things, spirals about things that could go wrong, and lies awake trying to “figure things out.” I didn’t realise that what I was actually dealing with was OCD — not the ‘likes things tidy’ stereotype, but the kind that fills your head with intrusive thoughts, constant doubt, and exhausting mental loops.

It wasn’t until years later, after panic attacks, burnout, and endless rumination, that I finally found the tools that helped me change my relationship with my own thoughts and feelings.

I’m now a therapist and coach who specialises in helping women break free from those same patterns. I combine CBT, ACT and ERP — not just because I’m trained in them, but because I’ve used them to turn my own life around. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to know something isn’t right. If you’re stuck in endless loops, feeling like your brain won’t switch off, and constantly questioning yourself — you’re not broken. You just haven’t been taught the right skills yet. And that’s where I come in.

Professional Experience

My career in mental health spans over a decade, including more than 10 years working in the NHS — where I treated hundreds (if not thousands) of people with OCD and other anxiety disorders across both general and specialist services. Alongside my NHS work, I began building a thriving private practice, and in 2024, I left the NHS to focus fully on supporting women with OCD through both therapy and coaching.

I’ve been trained by — and worked alongside — some of the UK’s leading experts in OCD treatment. I completed specialist training at the highly regarded Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London, and spent several years working at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (including time at the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma) — both widely respected for their specialist work in OCD and anxiety.

My Approach

When you’ve been stuck in your head for so long, you don’t need more insight — you need practical tools. That’s what I focus on. I combine what actually helped me (CBT, ERP, and ACT-based strategies) with what I’ve seen help hundreds of other women to break free from the OCD cycle.

This isn’t about endlessly analysing your thoughts or going round in circles. It’s about understanding how OCD works, what keeps it going, and learning skills that actually help you respond differently — so you can get back to living your life, not managing your mind.

My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and even light-hearted at times. We’ll focus on building skills and strategies that create real, lasting change — not just in how you respond to your mind, but in how you live too. And while the work we do together is serious, it doesn’t always have to feel so heavy — I often bring a sense of humour and lightness to the process as well.
